Linda lives in Massachusettes with her husband and cat. The Mother of
two sons, who are grown, her "empty nest" is filled with a calico cat named Tiffany and a
number of teddies.
Linda's love of textiles and years of study in the fine art of quilt making
has evolved into the "art" of Teddy Bear design and creation. The adventure into this world
began in 1997, when the loss of her mentor made quilting too painful.
Her selection of fabric and the unique blending of colors, combined with the skill of piecing,
is the basis for her designs which incorporate the dressing of her bears. A bear may have
three to seven different mohair fabrics and as many as forty different pattern pieces. She cleverly
combines two loves and creates the most wonderful Teddies!
Each bear is designed and created solely by Linda. With the intensity of her work, the production
is limited to between one hundred and twenty to one hundred and fifty bears a year. Each a
treasure, each totally filled with a piece of her soul.
She has been nominated for two TOBY(TM) Awards, Has won the British Bear Artist Award for two
consecutive years, and was People's Choice Winner at TBAI Ross Park Zoo. She has designed bears
for Dean's Company, Great Britian's oldest manufacturer of mohair bears.
For relaxation, Linda enjoys classical music, art, ballet, traveling, gardening, reading, quilt design, and
spending time with her family.
Linda is a delightful lady with a quality that immediately endears her to you. I met her in Timonium a few
years ago and was drawn to both her and her work. Owning one of her bears, for me, is an honor. My husband
got my first "Klay" for our anniversary last year. It is like having a piece of her in your home, as so much of
her goes into each one!
