The Teddy Bear Shoppe Of The Poconos

JOHN PAUL PORT
CREATOR OF "VAN POORT DESIGNS" OF CALIFORNIA

Neysa Phillippi is a truely talented artist, who make her bears and other "Outrageous" animals with her mind and hands.

She is an artist, tour presenter and wife with a gift for creating the unusual. In a world that says you can only make a bear look so many different ways, Neysa has gone beyond!

Her newest endeavor is to release the patterns, for sale, of the her most successful bears created over the last eleven years. "Patterns of Bears Gone By" features those bears she feels her the best work for those years.

She and her many creations have appeared in magazines, books, newspapers, on a book cover, and even on television in the USA and Austrailia.

Her strong background in art, with a degree in Photography Multi-Media, she has worked as a pizza delivery person, a welder, a graphic artist, a published Agricultural Photographer, a weaver, and finally....for the last seventeen years, as a teddy bear artist.

With bears selling in the United States, Canada, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Austrailia, Japan, Singapore, Scotland, and Switzerland, she has reached international status.

Neysa is also the presenter for "The Artists for Artists"European Tours, since 1994. This coming May will be her 8th spring tour, with the fall and winter tours going to Germany, London or Paris.

She and her husband Gerry McKinney, two cats, Indy their newest, and Asia her original Siamese who eats teddy bears, live in Pennsylvania. I met Neysa and her creations in Timmonium, Maryland three years ago. Fascinated with her unusual and creative work, I ordered some for the shoppe. I never pick colors, but let her "play" and create whatever comes to her mind....what a mind!!! Neysa says it has taken her 46 years to get this far and she isn't finished yet!
