A lifelong love of sewing has led her in many directions
since her early childhood, whenher mother patiently shared her love of the art.
Crystal made her first stuffed animal (a bear), when she was about 5 years old, and has experimented with just
about every sewing technique since; through garment construction and tailoring, quilting, heirloom
sewing, original machine embroidery, and now. . . bears! It satisfies.
She fashions her bears from scratch, using the finest materials.pays great attention to detail, and is proud
to offer her bears for sale to even the most discriminating arctophile.
Pleased to have one of her bears nominated for a 1998 Golden Teddy Award, and astounded to
receive another nomination this year, for the 1999 Golden Teddy Award! She feels it is truly an honor to
be among such a talented, creative and distinctive group.
Crystal lives in Michigan with her family, where she lovingly creates her small. but powerful, teddies.
Look for the sewn-in tag and BookShelf Bear logo embroidered on the right foot pad of each and every
authentic BookShelf Bear!
I had the pleasure of meeting Crystal at the 2000 IDEX SHOW in San Francisco. Her bears are delightful!
She has created a special little fellow named "Tortie" for my shoppe. He is a limited edition of ten, but......
we may have to have another, in different colors, when he is all sold. He is special, because he wears a
little vest with the Beary Best Friends logo embroidered on the back. You can see him on the next page...
he is "Our Boy"!! It is great to have Crystal's little bears in the shope. They are small, she has trained
them well, and they are perfectly behaved!
